ABOUT
Listening to Californians with Complex Needs (LCCN)
In partnership with the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF), EVITARUS is conducting interviews and focus groups throughout the state designed to listen to hard-to-reach residents facing a variety of complex needs, including:
Serious Mental Illness and other mental health conditions
Homelessness or housing insecurity
Substance Use Disorder
Recent release from, and prior experience with, incarceration
Seniors with functional impairments and challenges living independently as they age
The research entails more than 100 in-depth interviews and eight focus groups among adults, ranging from ages 18 to 75, who identify as White/Caucasian, American Indian/Native American, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Latino, Black/African American, and Mixed race/Biracial. Key regions include the Bay Area (Oakland), Central Valley (Fresno), Far North (Eureka and Redway), and Southern California (Los Angeles).
Listening to Californians with Complex Needs uncovers gaps in resources, social services, and health care for residents with complex needs and identifies the types of support they would find helpful in promoting health, well-being, and good quality of life. This research is supported by CHCF, which works to ensure that people have access to the care they need, when they need it, at a price they can afford.”
